Jeep Vent Visors

April 29, 2010

Having a hard time getting a hold of  Vent Visors for your Jeep?  Mopar is currently in the middle of a re-design after having problems with their “stick-on” style.  Apparently, there were some issues with the deflectors coming off at inopportune moments.  We have a solution for you while the ventvisors from your dealer are on backorder; In-Channel Air Deflectors by Weathertech.  These high-quality window visors attach in the window channel rather than using two sided tape.  See the link to your specific vehicle below:

Another cool new product line that is now available (just in today) are the interior car organizers  by Thule Organization Systems, which will help organize the inside of your Jeep or any other car your family may drive.  I know that my Jeep needs all the help it can get!  These also make great, affordable but high quality gifts.

The Jeep Sales Figures for January 2009 are Brutal.

February 10, 2009
Chrysler LLC has reported it’s Jeep Sales Figures for the January 2009 sales period.   The Commander undersold by a whooping -71% compared to the same period last year.  The Jeep Compass had a -69% percent drop and moved a measly 819 units nationally during this time.  Look for it to be dropped in the near future with those kind of  sales numbers.  The Grand Cherokee and Liberty both had a -60% drop, while the recently popular Patriot saw sales fall -53%.  Jeep’s lone positive performer was the Jeep Wrangler who was showing a slight up tick in sales from last year at a 4% sales increase, most likely helped by the slew of rebates out there right now.  Overall Jeep sales are down -49% from the same time period last year.

Jeep 2008 sales figures. OUCH!

January 6, 2009

Chrysler has released their sales figures for all of 2008, as well as the particularly bleak December 2008 numbers.  Jeep sales fell -48% from December ’08 compared to the same time period in ’07.  The Compass and Commander were the real stinkers of the group with sales falling -63% & -62% respectively.   The Jeep Wrangler was the least offensive of the bunch with only -22% drop.  All other models were -48% or worse.

For all of 2008, Jeep sales dropped -30% from the previous year.  Patriot sales are up 38% for the year.  The Jeep Liberty & Wrangler were the next “best” performers with only a -27% & -29% sales difference.  Grand Cherokee sales fell -39%, while the not-so-fuel-efficient Commander saw it’s sales drop -56% on the year.

Jeep Sales for Oct. 2008. Two words: NOT GOOD.

November 6, 2008

Well, Chrysler LLC has announced their sales figures for October 2008.  Things aren’t looking very good for Jeep (or any Chrysler model) at the moment.  The Jeep Patriot is the one and only positive performer for the year, up 62% but still down -11% for 10/08 as oppossed to 10/07.  Jeep Grand Cherokee sales were down -24% in October as oppossed -37% on the year.  That may be due to both dropping gas prices and last ditch efforts to grab a lease.  Wrangler sales dropped -33%, bring their sales down -30% for the year.  The Jeep Liberty is down -40% selling 3,918 units during the time period.  The Commander improved to -48% sales difference, bringing them “up” to -54% on the year.  The ugly stepchild of the family is still the Compass.  This forgotten “Jeep” sold a measly 855 units for the October sales period for a -62% drop in vehicles moved.

These dismal totals bring Jeep sales down 105,017 units sold for a -27% drop in volume moved on the year.

The gas guzzling Commander saw sales drop -54%.

How to: Carry a Kayak or Canoe on your Jeep

June 10, 2008

As I sit here in our office, sweating my way through record breaking heat, my mind has been drifting off to thoughts of kayaking on the lake. Many of you must have been thinking the same thing lately, as you’ve been asking us a lot of questions on how to carry a kayak or canoe on your Jeeps. It’s actually easier than you might think. On any Jeep that’s not a Wrangler, you’ll require some type of cross rails and the rack to attach your boat to those cross rails.

Here’s a quick guide to what products you will need for each model Jeep Vehicle:

To carry a kayak or canoe on your Jeep Patriot, we’d recommend the Mopar Sport Utility Bars. These hardy cross rails are designed to hold more weight than your average factory bars and can easily handle your canoe or kayak. For a canoe, use the Jeep Patriot Canoe Carrier. For a kayak, use the Jeep Patriot Kayak Carrier.

Although it seems crazy, and may look a little silly on the road, we have a friend who carries his canoe on top of his Jeep Compass, while taking fishing trips up in the Adirondack Mountains, so we know it can be done. He uses the Jeep Compass Sport Utility Bars by Mopar and the Jeep Compass Canoe Carrier. For Kayaks use the Jeep Kayak Carrier. There are also suitable options available from Thule, which in some cases are more expensive, but tend to be very high quality products.

To carry your favorite vessel on your Jeep Grand Cherokee, it’s the same old story, use a set of the Grand Cherokee Sport Utility Bars and the Grand Cherokee Kayak Rack or Canoe Rack.

If a Jeep Liberty is your vehicle of choice, get a set of the Liberty Sport Utility Bars and the Liberty Kayak or Canoe Rack by Mopar or Thule.

For carrying your Kayak or Canoe on a Jeep Commander, you’ll need the Mopar Sport Utility Bars and the Jeep Commander Kayak or Canoe Racks. Or what the heck, just stuff your kayak inside that big boy!

We’ve had a lot of interest recently on carrying your boats with your Wrangler as well. Unfortunately, we’ve yet to see a solution that wasn’t completely awkward and maybe even dangerous. We know of people who take the top off and use their Jeep’s roll bars and rig up some home made straps to transport their canoes. We also know people that will stuff their kayak into the rear of their Wrangler at an disastrous angle and hope for the best. We cannot recommend either method, particularly for long trips, but if you’re like us you’ll do what it takes to get your boat on the lake or river.

UPDATE (5.15.12) – A new solution for carrying a kayak on your Jeep Wrangler!

10 Must Have Jeep Accessories for Summer.

May 28, 2008

A beautiful Memorial Day Weekend kicked off the start of Summer with our Jeeps. The sun was shining, tops were down, and the open road was prime for the taking. Here is a Top 10 list of Must Have Accessories for Jeep owners and their Jeeps during Summer:

10. This Jeep Tent is a perfect compliment to the freedom afforded by your Jeep. It attaches to any Jeep vehicle with a lift gate to create extra storage space and can even be rigged up to work on a Wrangler. With more people vacationing closer to home for less money (ie, camping), this tent is a perfect set-up for summer fun.

9. We noticed more vehicles on the road with kayaks and canoes on the roof this summer. These vessels are a heck of a lot cheaper to maintain than motorboats along with the added benefit of a great workout while having fun. Well what are you waiting for? Go buy a kayak now and be sure to purchase a Jeep Kayak or Canoe Rack to carry your new toy to the lake or river! Options are available from Mopar or Thule. These products will work with any Jeep model assuming you’ve got some type of t-slot compatible cross rails or sport utility bars to attach the rack to.

8. If motorboats or jet-skis are your thing, get your Jeep ready to tow them to the lake with the Jeep Trailer Hitch .

7. When bouncing along off-road you’ll want to give your passengers a fighting chance. Hook your Jeep Wrangler up with Jeep Grab Handles and give them a little grip to hold on to. Available for your roll bars and the rear of your front seats.

6. After a long winter and spring of tracking in slush and mud, this time of year is perfect to replace your Jeep Carpet Mats . These are made by Mopar to specifically match your Jeep’s interior color.

5. Nothing is worse than carrying your bike inside your car. This particular endeavor is made more difficult when driving a Jeep with less interior cargo room, such as the Wrangler or the Compass. The Jeep Bicycle Carrier by Mopar is designed to make lugging your bike less painful and to insure that it will arrive to it’s destination safely. It is available in spare tire mount for the Wrangler , spare tire or roof mount for the Liberty, & roof mount for the Grand Cherokee, Commander, and Compass, as well as a Hitch Mount version for the Jeep Patriot.

4. It’s summer and your hard-top MUST come off. Your Jeep was made to be driven topless and now is the time to do it. What to do with that unwieldy hard-top? Why not stow it on a Jeep Hard Top Storage Dolly? This product allows easy movement of the hardtop with the best use of available space.

3. Another Jeep Wrangler Accessory and overall Summer must have is the Cloverpatch Window Roll. This clever product allows for easy storage of the soft top windows while out on the road or trail. it protects your windows from dents, scratches, and tears while allowing you to bring them with you on the trail or road. If you run into a stretch of bad weather, just bust out the windows and you’re good to go.

2. Summer is the perfect time of year to get your Jeep out, cleaned up, and on the road or trail. Set your Jeep apart from the pack with a Jeep Tire Cover. Everything from Smiley Faces, to American Flags, to Jeep or Life is Good Logos are available.

1. Our favorite summer Jeep Accessory is the Jeep Bikini Top. Available for TJ and JK models (1997-up), this product allows you to stay cool and in the shade with the ease of removing the top if you are feeling the need to get a tan.

If you have any technical questions or advice, please leave a comment and we’ll do our best to get them answered for you. Now get out there and have fun!
